Balmoral Castle

Balmoral Castle & Estate

When Queen Victoria first visited Balmoral, Aberdeenshire, on 8 September 1848, she noted that the house was ‘small but pretty’, and while there ‘All seemed to breathe freedom and peace, and to make one forget the world and its sad turmoils’.
Today our visitors come to Balmoral for those very same reasons. A place of peace, calm and tranquility, there really is no better place to escape the rush of modern day life.
Visit for just a day, explore on a Land Rover Safari, relax on our 9 hole golf course, fish the sparkling river Dee or unwind in one of our holiday cottages.

Business Opening Hours

In 2020 the grounds, gardens, exhibitions, gift shop and cafe will be open to the Public on a daily basis from Wednesday 1st April until Monday 3rd August.   Opening times are from 10.00 a.m. until 5.00 p.m. however please note that the last recommended admission is at 4.00 p.m.

We recommend that you set aside at least one and a half hours for your visit to Balmoral. This will give you time to visit the grounds, gardens, exhibitions, gift shop and the cafe.
