Castle Country - North East Scotland
With an impressive count of more that 300 castles, stately mansions and ruins scattered across the landscape, there are more castles per acre here, than anywhere else in the UK. Unsurprisingly the area is known as 'Scotland's Castle Country.
It even has its own castle trail, simply follow the distinctive brown and white Castle Trail road signs through the heart of the region.
